ENGAGEMENT!

President Rob Foster’s theme for the year

ROTARIAN OF THE DAY: Warren Brown

BOY SCOUT TROOP 807 UPDATE

West Jackson shared recent activities of our local scout troop. West has served as the chair of the board of the troop. The board handles administrative responsibilities, freeing up the scoutmaster to lead the troop. Because the goal of scouting is to train leaders, the boys, he emphasized, run the troop themselves. The older boys lead the younger boys. The troop averages almost one Eagle Scout a year. That is truly an accomplishment!

They try to have a camp-out monthly and generally get in eight a year. The winter camp-out is their favorite. (But not West’s!) This summer, the boys will go to the Emerald Bay Scout Camp on Catalina Island, off the coast of southern California. This is a big trip for them, and they’ve worked hard to raise the money for it. Our club supports the cost of their summer camp.

BACKPACK PROGRAM

Lassie Olin announced that Galles Realty donated $2,000 to the backpack program. YAY!

SPONSORSHIPS

Shellie Peterson said we have reached $37,400 in sponsorships. Our goal is $50,000. Thank you to our latest sponsors: Bank of the San Juans, Colorado Title and Closing, Elk Park Animal Hospital, and Davis Engineering.

TOTE BAGS

Rotary tote bags are our new speaker gifts. They also can come shopping with you, with the additional benefit of declaring your membership in our club. Buy one for $4 and two for $7.

RECOGNIZING LAW ENFORCEMENT

Phil Bennett shared an idea to have a law enforcement appreciation program. We would recognize a member of our law enforcement community monthly.

RAFFLE
The pot is $376!

GOT NEWS?
GOT A PROJECT?

Please let me know if you are planning a project and will ask members to join in. I would like to include it in this bulletin for those who may not be at a meeting to sign the clipboard. If you have a club announcement, please email Rob the details at least a couple of days in advance so he can get you on the agenda. flywaterrob@hotmail.com. While you’re at it, send it to me, too, and I can make sure it gets in this bulletin for members who may not be at the meeting.
