District Governor Donna Hood Visits This Week!

Get Your Rotary Bling On!

We look forward to welcoming District Governor Donna Hood to the Rotary Club of Pagosa Springs this Thursday, July 23.

A district governor’s visit is a special occasion for any Rotary club and an opportunity to share our accomplishments, celebrate our members and strengthen our connection to Rotary throughout the district. We hope to have a great turnout to give Donna a warm Pagosa Springs welcome and show her the energy and spirit of our club.

Wear your Rotary bling, pins and sparkle as we show Donna what makes our club shine. Committee chairs and event leaders should also be prepared to share a brief highlight about their projects and the work for which our club is known.

Note: It is appropriate Rotary etiquette to stand to clap for the District Governor when she is introduced and following her presentation.

250/150 Celebration Beer Sales

Frank Wiley reports that our Fourth of July beer sales brought in approximately $2,400 net for the club. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, poured beer, greeted guests and helped make the event a success.

The board also approved the purchase of three large coolers for future events. Our drinks, and perhaps our volunteers, will now remain considerably cooler.

Trash Pickup Effort Has a New Leader

Ben Fox has stepped up to coordinate our club’s trash pickup efforts. Thank you, Ben!

We also extend a special thank-you to Jann Pitcher for her years of hard work organizing this project and keeping volunteers fueled with countless donuts. Jann has left some very clean roads and some very big donut boxes to fill!

Dictionaries Ordered for Third-Grade Students

JoAnn Laird has ordered this year’s dictionaries for the Rotary Club of Pagosa Springs’ Third-Grade Dictionary Project.

Each November, the club presents every third-grade student in Archuleta County schools with a dictionary of their own. In addition to definitions, the books include maps, information about U.S. presidents, mathematical conversion tables and other learning tools designed to spark curiosity and discovery.
