Hi, I’m Maile Foster. Maile is a Hawaiian name, but I’m just a
military kid whose parents met and married in Hawaii, so the
name is to commemorate their courtship. It’s pronounced
like Smiley, without the “s.” I grew up in the Navy towns on
both coasts and was an English major at UCLA. Being an
English major was a painful experience since I’m much more
of a “numbers” person.
I’ve lived in Colorado Springs 26 years and have my own
financial planning and investment management practice.
Retirement is not on the horizon since I love how I spend my
days.
Prior to starting my practice, I enjoyed a 20-year career at
IBM. After all the IBM moves, I made a conscience choice to
move to Colorado Springs as I love the proximity to the
mountains, hiking and skiing. I wanted to settle down and get
involved in the community. I’ve been able to do that here and
enjoy my life more every day.
Fortunately, my son and two granddaughters love to come
visit Colorado. My son is an automotive industry consultant
and professional race car driver.
I’ve been a Rotarian for 19 years and have found the perfect
organization to help me “pay it forward.” Being an influence
for good in the world is my mission and through Rotary my
small contribution is multiplied many times over.
