2017 Kentucky Derby

 

The Kentucky Derby takes place on the first Saturday in May every year.
It is the longest continually held sporting event in America, and it is one of the most prestigious horse races in the world. Often called “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports”, the Kentucky Derby receives this nickname from the approximate length of time it takes the winner to run from the starting gate to the finish line. The Kentucky Derby is the first race within the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing, where it is followed by the Preakness Stakes race and the Belmont Stakes race.

The Buck Stops Here will be catering Bourbon Sauced Short-Ribs with a variety of side-dishes and there will be fabulous desserts!
 
The Mint Juleps will be flowing and betting on the horses will be fast and furious! 75% of the betting proceeds will be returned to the winners!!  25% will support the Rotary efforts in the community so come with your pockets full!
 
And, as if these weren't enough reasons that you want to be there - You will be supporting all the good work Rotary does!  100% of the funds we raise is put to work right here in Pagosa Springs.  The funds raised at this event will support college and Vo-tech scholarships for graduating high school seniors, Feed Our Children Backpack Program, Pagosa Outreach and many others.
