Feed Our Children

A large number of workers are necessary for this service in which the Morning Rotary also participates. The objective is to provide all the children in a selected family enough ‘kid friendly’ food for the weekend. The Program is currently offered in the 3rd and 4th grades; however, there is need and room to expand if the work force was available. The project ramps up at the beginning of each school year with conversations with teachers and school administration, determining the families that are participating and grocery buying. Groceries need to be carried up and down stairs a number of times so this is a physically demanding service. Generally the backpacks are packed, delivered to the School and disbursed on Friday. The packs then have to be retrieved to do it all again. Lots of moving parts makes this a service that you could fit into in many different ways for as little or as much time as you would like.
