The Gavel Ganache: Passing of the Gavel

The Rotary Club of Pagosa Springs stirred up a sweet celebration as members gathered for a decadent chocolate-inspired installation banquet. The evening honored the service of 2024–2025 Club President Rob Foster, while serving up a heartfelt welcome to 2025–2026 Club President Jenelle Syverson. With gratitude, laughter, and a spirit of unity, the leadership torch—and the chocolate—was passed, setting the stage to Unite for Good in the year ahead.

Invocation: Presented by Cindi Galabota

What is Success?

To laugh often and much;

To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;

To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;

To leave the world a bit better, whether by
a healthy child, a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one life has breathed
easier because you have lived;

This is to have succeeded.

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Golden Truffle Awards: Rotarian of the Year

Congratulations to Bryan Weitzel, our Rotarian of the Year! Though he couldn’t attend the installation banquet, Bryan’s presence is felt every week through his steady, behind-the-scenes service as the club's Media Administrator. From sending out weekly reminders, to running Zoom for remote members, to making sure everyone can see and hear our speakers—Bryan quietly ensures our meetings are meaningful and accessible. Thank you, Bryan, for your unwavering dedication and for truly living out Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self

Tempering the Future: Installation of New Officers

Assistant District Governor Tish Nelson joined in the celebration at the Rotary Club of Pagosa Springs annual installation banquet on June 27 by installing the club’s new officers. Leaders like Tish play a vital role in guiding and supporting individual Rotary clubs across the district, fostering strong leadership and ensuring alignment with Rotary’s mission. They truly help us Unite for Good.

Paul Harris Fellow

Lynn Feragen was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow during Friday’s installation banquet, with the recognition presented by outgoing President Rob Foster. This prestigious Rotary honor reflects Lynn’s outstanding commitment to the ideals of service, peace, and international understanding. Paul Harris Fellows are recognized for their dedication to making a lasting difference—locally and globally—through Rotary’s mission.

A Lasting Symbol of Service

As a parting gift, outgoing President Rob Foster generously presented the Rotary Club of Pagosa Springs with a beautifully handcrafted podium, created in collaboration with Greg Langford. “Greg led the charge on the build—I mostly just followed instructions,” Rob joked. Greg and Rob donated their time—25 hours from Greg, 18 from Rob—and Rob covered the cost of materials. The result is a lasting symbol of service, craftsmanship, and collaboration. Now that’s what it means to Unite for Good!
